Setting Goals

During winter I set the goal to perfect the skill of french braiding my hair. Now that I know how to do it well and as my hair continues to grow, braiding hair brings me simple and poignant satisfaction.

This Spring, I am setting a few new goals. Still working on them though.

John Gutmann

After fleeing Nazi Germany for the United States, Gutmann acquired a job as a photographer for various German magazines. Gutmann quickly took an interest in the American way of life and sought to capture it through the lense of his camera. He especially took an interest in the Jazz music scene. Gutmann is recognized for his unique "worm's-eye view" camera angle. He enjoyed taking photos of ordinary things and making them seem special.

This is by far my favourite high fashion ad campaign of the season. The model is Claudia Schiffer. Doesn't she look incredible? It doesn't even look like her. This was shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin at the ever famous HOLLYWOOD sign in California.

To rid oneself of possessions. What is really worth keeping in a box tucked away for memories sake? I have an small storage locker in the depths of my sister's condo which will house my essentials when I move Countries. When I look around at my things I am about ready to get rid of it all. Everything except my records, pictures and maybe my fur hat. I've never felt this way before.

Im in New York sitting at a table on the 4th floor at a building in NYU. These hallways have held and guided the ideas of many great minds. Often because of my passion for fashion I am led to wonder how great my ideas are. I question my creative abilities. What does it take to call oneself an artist?

Am I too much of a dreamer/ romantic to be an intellectual? Will this beautiful approach to life work against me in my pursuit of greater goals?

So I did a NYC directory search for Sedaris, A. The following address came up for (could it be?!?!!?) the one and only Amy Sedaris:

I know she lives in Greenwich Village and this address is in that neighborhood. Should I ditch the MOMA and the shopping and find a cafe outside her apartment? I can wait it out I think. Holt Renfrew christmas window

Today was the unveiling of the christmas windows at Holt Renfrew. Patti Labelle performed and MAN THAT WOMAN CAN SING! I dont know if it was the November air or her voice but I got chills.

The windows are beautiful. golden and majestic with natural themes and overall Christmasy feel.

This holiday stresses me out a little. They call it religious residue. Growing up not celebrating the holiday and being told it was evil, for the devil blah blah blah. Mostly the costume part is where I get the stress. Simple costumes are best. Next year i plan to really simplify things...
